When making certain changes to Magento, such as modifying code files, it is necessary to clear the cache in order for the changes to become visible.

There are two ways to clear the cache in Magento:

Through the Magento Admin Panel

Log in to your Admin Panel account
Go to the System -> Cache Management section
Click on the Flush Magento Cache button
Using SSH/FTP or the cPanel File Manager

Magento — Display price dynamically based on quantity/tiered pricing

I’ve had a few people ask me about this recently, and I don’t have much of an answer for them, and can’t find much info on this elsewhere.

By default, on the product page, the price displayed gets updated dynamically based on custom options. Is it going to be a major pain to have that price updated dynamically based on the tiered pricing structure as well? Basically, so that if a user goes to a product with tiered pricing, and they enter a quantity that qualifies for tiered pricing, the price gets updated based on the tier pricing and quantity selected.

I would think some jQuery voodoo shouldn’t be that difficult to build so the price is recalculated based on the values, but I’m curious if anyone else has done this previously and if they are aware of any potential pitfalls with doing this.

Is there a very good reason why not to do this… or in other words, is there a very good reason why this wasn’t built as part of the Magento Core?

Follow these few simple steps to get your Magento Under Construction Page up and running. This has been tested on Magento 1.4x, but there is no reason why this shouldn’t work on earlier versions too. It should work on other CMS’s also.
Step 1 – Create an under Construction HTML page
Create an index.html under construction page
Upload this page to your root magento directory
(you have already made that backup, right>?)

Step 2 – Update your .htaccess file
Add the following line to the top of your .htaccess file in the root directory of your magento installation
DirectoryIndex index.html index.php
Also, upload this file to your root magento directory
(rest assured if anything goes wrong, you’ve got that backup!)
